What is a laundry locker business?
Automated smart lockers give customers 24/7 self-service drop-off and pickup for wash-dry-fold and dry cleaning. Operators either place lockers inside an existing store to extend hours and cut labour, or at apartments, offices, gyms and universities to grow service area without new storefronts.
How much does it cost to start?
A starter 5 locker deployment is about $2,750 to $3,000 all in, hardware and shipping. A 10 locker setup is about $6,500 to $7,000. A 25 locker network is $10,000 to $11,250. No lease and no staff required.
Will my current POS work with the lockers?
Yes. The lockers integrate with CleanCloud, Cents and SMRT. If you would rather not pay for a POS at all, Laundry Wise software runs the lockers, the counter and pickup and delivery with no monthly fee.
Do I need laundry experience?
No. Many successful operators started with none. You manage hardware, software and building partnerships; the cleaning is usually done by a partner laundromat on a revenue share. The sales pack, legal templates and playbook come with the order.
How long is payback?
For a 10 locker deployment, typically 6 to 9 months at conservative usage. Larger deployments pay back faster per locker because freight and setup spread across more doors.
Is the laundry industry recession-proof?
